Velvet, faux fur, and faux leather… How am I supposed to choose just one!? The answer is simple: wear them all together 😉 One of the seasons hottest trends is mixing textures to give an outfit more variety and dimension. However, it takes some thought to master this look and make it look chic all at the same time! Here’s how to mix and match my 3 favorite textures into one outfit:
- Match colors not textures: If the color palette is right, and the colors look good together, the textures will most likely look good together too. For example, my velvet sneakers are grey and black. When paired with black faux leather leggings (you need these for only $29), and a faux fur vest that encompasses greys and blacks, you’re set!
- Break up the look with a solid: Layer in a solid color that matches all of the textures, and brings it all together to ground your look. Neutrals (or a chambray in my case) are a great way to go!
- No more than 3 textures: You’re already making a bold fashion statement by mixing textures, so don’t overwhelm the look! Keep it to a 3 texture maximum, or even 2 textures, and the 3rd texture can be an accessory! This way you’ll still look chic
What are some of your textures to mix together?! Sequins, fringe, lace? I’d love to hear how you do it 😉
