Hey friends! If you happen to find yourself in Miami, look no further than Islamorada- a quick 1.5 hour drive (max) down to the Florida keys and you’re instantly in paradise! We escaped the city for the weekend and quickly found ourselves in an escape that’s a cocktail of turquoise waters, swaying palm trees, and a laid-back island vibe! Islamorada, Florida truly seems like the ultimate hidden gem in the Florida Keys (dare I say we liked it more than Key West?!). Get ready to soak up some serious sunshine and dive headfirst into the irresistible charm of this tropical paradise!
I feel like I can confidently review the Keys now that we’ve been down there three times! Yes, 3!!! We first went back in 2020 for the day (see blog post here), and then last month we went to Key West for the weekend (see blog post here). With that being said, I think this time around was our favorite for many reasons 😉
WHERE TO STAY:
We stayed at the Postcard Inn, which was truly, straight out of a postcard 🙂 Our room had an ocean front view, we woke up to the *most stunning* beautiful pastel sunrises I have ever seen and during the day overlooked the famous Islamorada sandbar. They have multiple restaurants on property, a tiki bar, jet ski rentals, and essentially everything you need for the weekend 🙂
WHAT TO DO:
Our favorite activity of the weekend was jet skiing! There are jet ski rentals next door at Spray which made it convenient to walk to. We opted for the 26 mile guided tour and I highly recommend it…truly a 10/10 experience! The guide takes you all around the keys, out to the sandbar, out to the famous lighthouse with the coral reef, and through mangroves! It’s a one-of-a-kind and can’t miss experience!
WHERE TO EAT/DRINK:
Like I mentioned, they have restaurants on property which we ate at for breakfast everyday. It was a quick and delicious breakfast option. For lunch we opted to go off property to our FAVORITE in the Keys- Lorelei’s. It’s the BEST experience! We love to sit out on the patio, they have live music 7 days a week, people pull up their boats and seaplanes, and everyone is in an amazing and happy mood! It’s definitely good vibes. You must order the blackened fish sandwich with tartar sauce and extra pickles 😉 Yum!!! I also recommend grabbing a sunset drink at the Tiki Bar on property! It’s so cute, right on the harbor, and also good vibes! Lastly, you MUST TRY Bad Boy Burrito- it’s a FAVORITE when we’re in town! The fish burrito with verde sauce is our go-to, trust me!!! They also have the last Starbucks you’ll see for over 80 miles on property which is convenient for my coffee lovers.
OTHER TIPS:
I could not recommend this for a quick weekend getaway enough- I love that it’s not too far down into the keys, so only an hour and a half drive from Miami which makes it convenient and doable. Definitely bring extra sunscreen (the UV down here is hot) and just have fun! Put on some Jimmy Buffet, listen to the waves crash, and just relax 🙂
