When it comes to the in-between seasons, depending on where you live and the climate you are working with, it can be tricky to plan your outfits. One day might be 90 degrees and the next might be 65, so the outfit you had in mind to wear on a particular day might not be the best option by the time the day rolls around. This is where a transitional section of your wardrobe comes in handy, and the nice part is it can be used multiple times a year still, as you transition out of summer or into spring, as a part of a layered look in the winter, and more!
The main thing to look for when seeking out transitional pieces is making sure it’s something that can be worn on its own on a warmer day, and still look just as cute with a blazer or cardigan thrown over the top.
Here are my five favorite ways to plan your summer to fall transitional wardrobe:
Tanks and Bodysuits – these are great for those warmer days on their own, but also look super cute with a blazer or cardigan thrown over the top on chilly morning commutes in to work.
Fall-inspired Skirts – if it’s still warm enough to wear skirts but you want to get into the fall spirit, I love pairing skirts (preferably plaid and fall colored ones!) with my favorite booties for a date night!
Athleisure – still hanging on to those summer athleisure favorites? Take the morning chill off by throwing a casual gauzy button-down or cropped hoodie over the top until the day warms up!
Sweaters – the temperatures definitely have to drop before you can comfortable sport a sweater all day, but one of my favorite trends to use in transitional seasons is a good oversized sweater vest! You still get to keep your arms bare and cool in the warmer temps, but give off total fall vibes.
Dresses – summer dresses can be hard to part with once the temperatures start to dip in the fall, but if you have a hard time giving them up just yet, try throwing a denim jacket over the top for a date night and you’ve got yourself a fall outfit!
