Hellooooo my friends, from Canada eh?! 😉 We spent the entire weekend up in Whistler, Canada, and oh my gosh was it *pure magic*! We timed it just right- mid October, with the leaves being at their absolute peak fall foliage. You can see every single “Fall color” in the photos from red, orange, yellow, to green. I think this is officially my favorite time of the year! There’s a crisp chill in the air, you get to dress cozy, and the beauty is truly unmatched. It was my first time in Whistler, and I have to say, it definitely won’t be my last. We timed it interesting- as it’s right after the Summer season ended (so no mountain biking), and right before Winter season begins (so no skiing/snowboarding yet). Nonetheless, we still enjoyed every minute of our weekend away and in today’s blog post I’ll share where we stayed, what we did, and where we ate/drink all weekend.
WHERE TO STAY:
We stayed in a queen deluxe studio at Crystal Lodge which is probably the most *ideal* location in Whistler! It is right in the heart of the village, you can walk everywhere, and it’s just centrally located to restaurants, shops, rentals, the mountain, etc. The room itself had a mini little kitchenette, a cute mini patio, and the rooms were clean/tidy, the staff was super friendly, and they even had a great pool/spa!
WHAT TO DO:
Like I mentioned above, we hit the timing kind of “awkward” so to speak- after the high Summer season of biking and hiking, and before the high Winter season of skiing/snowboarding, so it was raining ALL DAY. But, I loved it nonetheless! We spent our days, drinking coffee, eating delicious food, wandering around the village with umbrellas, and going on little nature walks, going to the hot tub, and just relaxing. Here is what I would HIGHLY recommend:
- Summer: *must* rent mountain bikes or do the ATV tour on the mountain
- Winter: *must* go skiing/snowboarding at Blackcomb Whistler
- Scandinave Spa: this is a world-renowned spa that Whistler locals told us is “life changing”. Unfortunately there was a private party that booked the entire spa when we were visiting, so definitely book ahead!
- Grab coffee, sit by a fireplace, read, enjoy your hotel’s pool/spa, people watch in the village
- Walk over to the Olympic statues where they held the 2010 Olympics
- Wander through the woods, along the river to the other side of Whistler Blackcomb where Four Seasons and Fairmont are located- beautiful views and a quick walk away
WHERE TO EAT/DRINK:
- Coffee: Â Moguls
- Bakery (the most *insane* baked goods of my life): Purebread
- Pizza by the slice: Fat Tony’s
- Lunch/Dinner: Mongolie Grill (make your own stir fry)
- Dinner/Drinks:
- Â Stonesedge (incredible ambience, delicious food, friendly staff)
- 21 Steps (great atmosphere, delicious apps/drinks/desserts, very nice staff, incredible service, great view of the village)
- Happy hour/Drinks: Longhorn Saloon was the most recommend locals favorite spot for drinks looking right at the gondola/slope!
OTHER HELPFUL INFO:
There is a shuttle that takes you either from the YVR airport, or from downtown Vancouver so it’s super convenient and easy to get to Whistler without a car. And you don’t even really need one once you’re there if you stay in the village! We paid $35/person round trip for a shuttle to Whistler and back, super affordable, convenient, and easy.
