WHERE TO STAY:Â
We rented a cute little apartment RIGHT in the heart of downtown, on the corner of 1st and Pine Street! It was literally a block or less from Pike Place and we walked through the market daily which was so cool 🙂 Although it was the most touristy spot, it was actually ideal for being in the heart of everything without a car.
WHAT TO DO:
There are truly SO MANY amazing things to do in Seattle, but of course this depends on the time of year you visit! Most of the year is pretty misty/cloudy, however, during the summer (specifically August) it was the most ideal temperatures and weather! We actually had some 90 degree days and some 65 degree days, so it varies a lot, but it was just amazing! This is what we did and what I’d recommend:
Pike Place Market- the first Starbucks, fish throw, buy some $10 beautiful flowers
Gas Works Park
Fremont Troll
Bike ride around Lake Union
Take the ferry to Bainbridge Island
Take the ferry to West Seattle (Alki Beach and ride bikes/kayak)
San Juan Islands (Orcas Island whale watching)
Can Can show in Pike Place
Space Needle
Chihuly Museum
Ballard Farmers Market (year round on Sunday)
Underground Tour (SO COOL)
Madison Park Beach (there’s the coolest floating dock with a diving board)
Ferris’s Wheel
Wings over Washington
WHERE TO EAT/DRINK:
Westward
Lola
Pink Door
Storyville Coffee
Anthony’s Restaurant on the pier
White Swan Public House
Salt and Straw Ice Cream
Le Panier- croissants
Nest Rooftop Bar
Biscuit Bitch
General Porpoise Donuts
Ivars Clam Chowder
TIPS ON GETTING AROUND:
We walked everywhere around Seattle! You can pretty much get around downtown just by walking. We did take a couple buses as well when needed! I also recommend taking advantage of all the ferries around the Seattle area- they go everywhere and are so easy, convenient, cheap, etc!
