Another month, come and gone! It’s crazy how quickly time flies when we’re traveling and moving around each month. We spent the month of June in Philly and were pleasantly surprised at the city! This month it was especially hard to find a nice, comfortable, clean home that we could work and live from- with summer here and vaccinations opening everything up, we’re not the only ones traveling now! But we made it work and took the Amtrak train (which was so nice) from NYC to Philly. Sharing everything else we did this month in today’s blog post!
WHERE TO STAY:
We ended up finding a rental within budget just a block from downtown in the area called Fairmount which was nice and perfect distance to walk downtown or to Rittenhouse Square. I definitely recommend staying somewhere downtown near Rittenhouse Square- such a fun vibe in that area of town.
WHAT TO DO:
You girls came through with a lot of tips on what to do in this city since myself or my boyfriend had never been before!
Boathouse Row
Kelly Drive- we rode bikes along here
Independence Hall Tour- we did this walking tour and LOVED it!
Morgans Pier
South Street
Italian Market
Reading Terminal Market- a must see! TONS of little pop ups with food, drinks, etc
Rollerskating infront of City Hall
Love Park
Cira Green
Spruce Street Harbor Park
Fishtown- super trendy/hip part of town with fun restaurants/bars
Logan Square
Double Decker City Bus- highly recommend this for an overview of the city
Art Museum- where the infamous Rocky steps are
Fairmount Park- we rented bikes a ton and rode all over this park. It’s 18 times bigger than Central Park in NYC. It’s kind of unique to ride up along Kelly Drive, Boathouse Row, and then through the Laurel Hill Cemetery
Gettysburg- we drove here one weekend for the day + did the car audio tour which is an app you download. Definitely check it out if you love history!
WHERE TO EAT/DRINK:
Sabrina’s
Green Eggs
Franklin Fountain Ice Cream
Parc
Harper and Crown
Mei Mei- our #1 FAVORITE restaurant in the city. Trust me + go here!
Talulah’s Garden
Chickie’s and Pete’s
Spice C
El Vez
*get a philly cheesteak sandwich (we don’t eat red meat but if you do, it’s a must)
OTHER TIPS:
Definitely download the Indego app and ride bikes around town, especially ride through Fairmount Park. We used these to get around the entire month and they were super easy to rent/ride. Have you ever been to Philly!? I’d love your recs in the comments to share with others 🙂
