If you follow along on Instagram, which I think a lot of you do, then you know that my boyfriend and I spent one of our weekends out of Philly, and took a drive down to D.C.! We had the best and just want to go back since there is SO MUCH to do there! It’s such a clean, amazingly beautiful, and very historic city that we could’ve easily spent a month there. We did however, end up cramming a lot into two days so I’m sharing everything with you + more in hopes that you’ll use this next time you visit DC! Who knows…we could be back in the future 😉
WHERE TO STAY:
We stayed at the Yotel DC and loved it! It was an affordable, new hotel, in the perfect location (just a block from the National Mall, the Capitol Building side), and not to mention was super trendy! The rooms had everything we needed, the restaurant outside (Art & Soul) had one of the yummiest brunches, and the rooftop pool deck was such a GOOD vibe (order the aperol spritz)! We loved it all and would recommend it to anyone.
WHAT TO DO:
Oh my gosh where do I start?! There is SO MUCH TO DO + SEE in DC! Like I said, we’ll probably return just because we really want to do it all.
Trolley City Tour- this sounds so touristy but it’s so worth it! You can see EVERYTHING in 90 minutes, totally recommend if it’s hot too so you can get a nice breeze.
Smithsonian Museum
Capitol Building
National Mall- ride bikes along the path
Washington Monument
Lincoln Memorial
WWII Vet Wall
Arlington National Cemetery + the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
Library of Congress
Jefferson Memorial
Ford’s Theater
Georgetown- oh my gosh we stopped here on our way out of town and *immediately* fell in love with the charm! You HAVE to visit! We ate at The Peacock and 10/10 recommend it!
WHERE TO EAT/DRINK:
El Techo- we ate here one evening and it was AMAZING! Such fun, all around, good vibes, and the burritos were 10/10, delish! Plus you can’t pass up a skinny marg with a tajin rim.
Art & Soul- this was the brunch spot at our hotel and it was actually really good! You must order the banana bread and a latte, yum!
The Peacock- this is a restaurant in Georgetown but 100% recommend sitting outside on the patio. Get the dessert menu and thank me later 😉
Call Your Mother
Rooster & Owl
Flower Child
The Pembroke
Sonny’s
Le Diplomate
OTHER TIPS:
Definitely download a city bike app- we used this to get around and it’s always the best way to see a city in my opinion! I also recommend the trolley tour of the city like I mentioned above- sounds silly and touristy, but they’re SO knowledgable and we loved learning all the cool facts!
Have you ever been to Washington D.C.?! If you’ve visited, let me know your favorite spots in the comments below. If you plan on visiting in the future, definitely give yourself a *few* days…there’s so much to see and do! 😉Â
