Another year around the sun, and for some reason, each year that passes, flies by quicker and quicker… especially 2020! That went by in the blink of an eye! I’m so grateful to wake up up another year older. Truly, age is just a number and I feel better now at 32 than I did at 22! I’ve really focused on my mental and physical health in the last few years, and prioritized what is important to me. I’d like to think I’m another year older and wiser! In years past I wrote some fun birthday blog posts: 31st quarantine birthday ideas, 30 things that bring me joy, 29 things I’ve learned in my 20’s, and more… but this year I wanted to really hone in on my life and where I’m at now by sharing TWO main things I’m celebrating this year as I turn 32!
TAKING COMFORT IN THE UNKNOWN:
This is something that I’ve REALLY had to work on and has proved to be quite the challenge for me! Coming from someone who loves a set plan, loves knowing what to look forward to, and loves knowing what is coming next, I’ve really been trying to focus on the NOW! I think has been SUCH an important life lesson for me! With 2020 brought so much uncertainty, yet somehow it was a year I’m most grateful for. Probably one of the most memorable years to date as my boyfriend and I put everything in storage and are now moving each month around the country! It’s been a wild ride full of unexpected twists and turns yet there has been so much growth in all that has come our way. I have truly learned the definition of flexibility, as I’ve had to adapt and pivot as unforeseen things are thrown our way each day and month. I’m intentionally giving effort to being much more patient and have a “go with the flow” mindset as we navigate living and working together in a new city each month. I don’t know what the future holds and I surely can only control it to some extent, so I’ve consciously been taking comfort in the unknown and trying to trust the process 🙂
THE LITTLE THINGS MAKE UP THE BIG PICTURE:
This is something that can apply to so many different situations that you are presented with in your life, but for me, focusing on celebrating the little things are truly most important! A simple phone call to my mom and dad, a handwritten letter in the mail, my boyfriend making my morning coffee for me, or a sweet message from a follower are all things to celebrate and be grateful for. A simple act of kindness or a smile here and there adds up and can truly make someone’s hard day better! The little things in life really are the heart of it all. I like to believe that what you give is what you get! I try to show appreciation and love for those close to me to make our relationships stronger, I try my best in the gym to get stronger each day to reach my fitness goals, and I try to work 1% harder and better each day to get where I want to be! The little things are meant to be celebrated every step of the way. Enjoy the journey and the process instead of waiting for the final destination!
