My boyfriend and I spent the month of December living in Boston, MA! Oh boy what a month it was. We celebrated Christmas just us two, in our cute little apartment and also got hit by a major Nor’easter that set snow records in Boston (hence why most pictures are snowy + Christmas-y themed). Very cool experience for two born and raised west coast people 😉 There is tons of history in this city and today I’m sharing what there is to do in Boston and some tips and tricks we learned along th way…
My boyfriend and I have been enjoying our time moving month to month and I’ve written a travel guide for each location that you should definitely check out: Miami Beach, New York City, Playa Del Carmen, MX, and now Boston! Keep in mind when reading these travel guides that our time living in each city was during covid times, so activities were limited, there may have been regulations on dining/etc, but we have made the most of each city! I’m happy to share everything we did, and learned with you in today’s blog post:
WHERE TO STAY:
We stayed in a fully furnished, two bedroom/two bathroom Blueground unit in the best location in Boston! It was right next to Boston Common and in the heart of downtown. So it was walkable to all areas of Boston including Seaport District, Boston Common & Boston Garden, South End, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, North End, and even Cambridge! We walked everywhere for the month, even trekking through the Nor’easter storm!
WHAT TO DO:
Walk through Boston Common & Boston Garden
Boston Duck Tours
Boston Tea Party Museum
Freedom Trail (we downloaded a $2 freedom trail app on our iPhone + did a guided audio tour which was great! it takes you to Paul Revere’s house, Old North Church, Faneuil Hall, Bunker Hill Monument, etc)!
Boston Public Library
Sam Adams Brewery Tour
Acorn Street- most photographed street in the U.S.
Charles Street in Beacon Hill- cute shops/restaurants
Newbury Street- lots of big retailer shopping
JFK Library
Seaport District
Harvard Yard (at Harvard) in Cambridge
Nighttime Graveyard Tours
Rent a car and take a coastal road trip: we drove to Portsmouth, Kennebunkport (our favorite) , Ogunquit, Newburyport, and Freeport
WHERE TO EAT/DRINK:
Tatte Bakery- #1 recommended coffee shop/brunch
Regina’s Pizza in North End
Mikes Pastry- highly recommended Italian bakery
Envoy- rooftop drinks in Seaport
Seafood (lobster rolls and chowder): Neptune Oyster, Union Oyster, Boston Chowda, Barking Crab: seafood like lobster rolls and chowder
Honeygrow- yummy make your own noodle bowl take out
OTHER TIPS:
Like I mentioned before, Boston itself isn’t too large- you can pretty much walk everywhere! We did a ton of walking but also utilized the T (like a subway system). It’s only about $2/trip and I totally recommend taking it- easy to use and figure out! If you are looking for a great gym to use while in Boston, definitely check out Lynx Fitness- it was a nice, clean, well thought out gym with amazing equipment!
