I’ve been doing A LOT of reading lately! Especially in the last couple colder months, December in Boston and January in Chicago. I’ve had lots of free time on my hands to dive into a good book and get lost 😉 I love reading a good page turner, especially if it’s a good thriller…. ooo, there’s nothing like it! Read on to find a few of my recent good reads book review…
In some of my recent blog posts book reviews I’ve covered some of my TOP rated books that are page turners! When I say you won’t want to put these books down, I mean it. Here are my most recent reads with a quick little synopsis:
The Wife Stalker: Breezing into the upscale seaside paradise of Westport, Connecticut, gorgeous thirtysomething Piper Reynard sets down roots, opening a rehab and wellness space and joining a local yacht club. When she meets Leo Drakos, a handsome, successful lawyer, the wedding ring on his finger is the only thing she doesn’t like about him. Yet as Piper well knows, no marriage is permanent. Meanwhile, Joanna has been waiting patiently for Leo, the charismatic man she fell in love with all those years ago, to re-emerge from the severe depression that has engulfed him. Though she’s thankful when Leo returns to his charming, energetic self, paying attention again to Evie and Stelli, the children they both love beyond measure, Joanna is shocked to discover that it’s not her loving support that’s sparked his renewed happiness—it’s something else. 9/10
The Idea of You: Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of an art gallery in Los Angeles, is reluctant to take her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band. But since her divorce, she’s more eager than ever to be close to Isabelle. The last thing Solène expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon. But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things. 9/10
Behind Closed Doors: Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth; she has charm and elegance. He’s a dedicated attorney who has never lost a case; she is a flawless homemaker, a masterful gardener and cook, and dotes on her disabled younger sister. Though they are still newlyweds, they seem to have it all. You might not want to like them, but you do. You’re hopelessly charmed by the ease and comfort of their home, by the graciousness of the dinner parties they throw. You’d like to get to know Grace better. Some might wonder what’s really going on once the dinner party is over, and the front door has closed. 9/10
Behind Her Eyes: David and Adele look like the picture-perfect husband and wife. But then why is David so controlling? And why is Adele so scared of him? As Louise is drawn into David and Adele’s orbit, she uncovers more puzzling questions than answers. The only thing that is crystal clear is that something in this marriage is very, very wrong. But Louise can’t guess how wrong—and how far a person might go to protect their marriage’s secrets. **this is next on my list!
The Last Flight: The story of two women who meet in an airport―both alone, both scared―and one agonizing decision that will change the trajectory of both of their lives. 9/10
Pretty Girls: The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: what could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago . . . and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it. 9/10
The Alchemist: my brother raves about this book and it is one of the most translated books in the world! It’s a very spiritual book combining magic, mysticism, wisdom and wonder into an inspiring tale of self-discovery. A short quick read too! 8.5/10
Just FYI- some of these books I’m recommending may be triggering for some (just a disclosure, but I think that comes with the territory of fictional, psychological thrillers). Up next on my list, I have The Wife Upstairs, Family Upstairs, and The Lies That Bind! What are some of your recent favorite reads?! Let me know in the comments so I can add them to my list 🙂
