My #1 most read and most popular blog post is this one on NBR Hair Extensions 101! I figured it was time to do a little update on my hair extensions, since there have been some updates + changes lately! A little back story: I started getting NBR hair extensions about 2 years ago and have had them ever since and LOVED them! Once covid hit in March, salons closed, and I was overdue for a hair extension maintenance appointment. I decided to have my mom take out my extensions, try and grow my natural hair thicker + healthier than ever, while still wearing these clip-in extensions from BFB Hair! So today that’s where we’re at. I’ve worn permanent hair extensions and temporary hair extensions and wanted to review the pros and cons of both methods today…
NBR HAIR EXTENSIONS
FYI: I go to @hairbybess locally here in Santa Barbara!
PROS:
- adds extreme fullness, length, and volume to your natural hair
- can easily be customized to your length, your color, and your wants/needs
- you can create so many fun and different hairstyles
- hair is long lasting, about 6 months
- they’re permanently there from when you wake up until you go to bed
CONS:
- high maintenance with appointments every 6-8 weeks that are expensive + add up quick
- you can’t fully itch/scratch your head or rub it while shampooing/conditioning
- there could be potential damage to your natural hair and scalp if not done properly
- they take forever to wash + dry + style so I only do this once a week
BFB HAIR EXTENSIONS
FYI: I wear the classic set in beige blonde
PROS:
- you can take in and out whenever needed (ex. I sleep and workout without them in)
- customizable via mail samples before purchasing
- one set price that isn’t recurring + there are no salon appointments necessary
- you can curl, straighten, wash just like you would your normal hair
- hair is long lasting, about 1+ years
- you don’t need to wash them for a couple months
CONS:
- you may be limited on colors depending on your specific hair color
- only a couple set lengths
- you have to put them in daily
That’s all the information I’ve got for you today as far as comparing NBR or hand tied extensions and BFB hair clip-in extensions! I hope this was super helpful as you make whatever decision is right for you. I can’t chose which one I like better because they’re both AMAZING hair extension methods! I will say, right now I’m loving the convenience of picking and choosing days to put in my BFB hair extensions, but then there are other days when I wish I could wake up looking like a supermodel with gorgeous hand tied extensions in, so… there’s that haha!
XO,
Torey
