It’s officially short season and today I’m sharing some of my favorite denim shorts from a couple different categories! I personally know how tough and challenging it can be to find THE perfect pair of denim shorts- trust me, I’ve probably ordered + returned about 20 in the last couple years. It’s been such a challenge finding the right pair! I’m so happy today to help you out + am sharing my top 4 denim short styles that I wear every day of the summer…

For sizing reference, I typically wear a size 24 in jeans/shorts and am about 5’6″ and 120 pounds. I hope this helps you in finding your right size of denim shorts.. 

AGOLDE PARKER VINTAGE CUT OFFS: $128, run true to size

This has been my #1 pair of denim shorts for the last 3-4 summers! I have this exact pair of shorts in 4 different washes, I wash and dry them easily, and they’re so dang comfortable + flattering on EVERYONE.  Because of the high-rise silhouette, high-waisted jeans keep everything looking and feeling polished. They fit so snug in the best way and perfectly mold to the curves of your figure. They truly are the hierarchy of all denim shorts, they’re amazing. This is an extremely good quality pair of denim, and I won’t turn back.

FREE PEOPLE MAKAI CUT OFFS: $68, run true to size (I ordered up to a 25 for a better fit)

I recently picked up this pair of denim in hopes that it would be a dupe to the much more expensive Agolde shorts, and oh my gosh was I right! They’re not only an exact dupe, BUT 1/2 THE PRICE! These are the most flattering pair of shorts I’ve ever put on my body with a high-rise silhouette with exaggerated inseam for a longer shape. That’s right- they appear to be longer on the legs/butt so that they’re ULTRA flattering. And in my opinion, high-waisted jeans like these are the most flattering style of jeans shorts you could possibly wear. They make your butt look so good and just make everything look tight (get it right get it tight). Comfortable, flattering, and well priced?! Win!

AMERICAN EAGLE 90S BOYFRIEND SHORTS: $37, run true to size (I did order up for a looser fit since they’re a “boyfriend” style)

This is a pair of denim shorts I heard people rave about for only $37 so I figured I’d give them a try and was pleasantly surprised! They’re more of a slouchy, laid-back fit in a longer length for more coverage. The distressing does make them appear as though they’re not “long denim shorts” if you know what I mean. They’re a very very lightweight, classic, extremely soft cotton denim so you can understand how comfortable they are. With that being said, they do stretch a bit, but after washing get right back to the original shape and size. They come in a few different washes, but personally thought this wash was the best.

FOREVER21 PAPERBAG DENIM SHORTS: $24, run small (order 1-2 sizes up)

These shorts are more “trendy” I’d say, and a great additional to any of the above staple denim shorts in your closet. If you’re looking to switch things up for another occasion these would be a fun, on trend style to wear! They can easily be dressed up or down which is a fun feature. They’re essential a fun pair of denim shorts with a high-rise paperbag waist, removable sash belt, and a cute cuffed hem.
