With social distancing currently enforced and a strict “stay at home order” here in California, life is a bit crazy and unsettling right now! To help boost my mood and keep me mentally strong, it’s important that I physically move my body. With my gym being closed, I’ve gotten creative and have relied on a few things to keep me healthy and active the last couple weeks so I wanted to share my tips with you today! Side note- if you need some work from home motivation or tips, be sure to read the blog post I shared last week!
I’ve found myself craving movement and activity during these trying times to keep me mentally sane! With much more sitting around, staying inside, and being cooped up, it’s crazy when I move my body physically, I feel SO MUCH BETTER mentally! There is truly no excuse not to get some sort of movement in your day, whether that’s 20 minutes or one hour, just do it and it’ll reverse your feeling of being “lazy”. I find my most motivation first thing in the morning right after my morning coffee! It helps me start my day off on the right foot and feel much more accomplished. Make this part of your daily schedule and it’ll soon become a habit! Schedule it into your day as if you would schedule anything else in.
Right now I’m 100% relying on the FASTer Way To Fat Loss home workouts which are amazing! They’re easy to access from the app or online portal, are accessible while you’re at home, are super motivating, and such a great burn! You can join in with me by signing up for my next 6-week FASTer Way To Fat Loss round right HERE… but hurry because spots are limited!
Another thing that I absolutely LOVE doing to stay active, during these times, and any day really is going for an evening walk! Getting outside, feeling the fresh air on your face, seeing other faces (from a distance), and taking in your surroundings, truly is freeing! I love listening to a podcast or going for a walk with my boyfriend to the beach or park nearby, it just feels so grounding. My step goal using my Apple Watch daily is 10,000 steps, and by going on a brisk 30-minute walk, I can typically get those in!
If you’re not already familiar, the benefits of working out and staying active daily are INCREDIBLE: more happiness, higher energy level, less anxiety and stress, improved sleep quality, and better memory & brain function, are just a few of the many!
Some of my other favorite workouts to do from home are:
Peloton App
Sweat App (BBG with Kayla Itsines)
Sculpt Society with Megan Roup
Love Sweat Fitness
Corepower Yoga
