TGIF friends! Hope you’ve had a great week and are ready for an even better long weekend! Before you get a jump start on all the weekend fun, I don’t want you to miss today’s blog post! I had a few questions about my recent blog post (Caribbean travel guide) and the most frequently asked one was: what did you do onboard the Princess Cruises ship for your 2 days at sea!? My answer in short: EVERYTHING! There are so many amazing and different onboard activities that will peak everyones interest, at every age! Today I’m sharing my favorite + highly recommend activities to keep you busy while you are cruising at sea for 2 days…
Lotus Spa: Treat yourself with a spa treatment and enjoy the peace and quiet of the private pool and serene setting! You are on vacation after all 😉 My mom and I both got a facial and massage (on our last day so we came home feeling refreshed) and it couldn’t have been more relaxing! We then enjoyed the rest of the morning in robes, feeling much more revitalized and fresh! There are a variety of different spa services you can choose from, and remember that self care is so important!
Workout: Take advantage of the amazing fitness equipment, amenities, and wellness opportunities onboard! There are many fitness class options at all different tines that will keep you well balanced on vacation. There are even spin bikes in the fitness center (score)! I worked out every single day on the cruise (and have definitely never had a run with a better view)! My morning workouts definitely set the tone for the day and kept me energized all week!
Soak Up The Sun: Enjoy the reason for your vacation and relax by one of the many pools onboard! The pools and hot tubs onboard Princess are freshwater, so be sure to take a dip! There are padded lounge chairs on the entire top deck near the pools where you can read, relax, listen to music, and order food and drinks using the OceanNow App! Essentially, your Ocean Medallion helps the crew find you and bring the food straight to your deck chair meaning your order will be delivered right to you, wherever you are on the deck, so you won’t have to miss a minute of vacation time! 😉
Entertainment: There are SO MANY incredible onboard entertainment opportunities, everywhere on the ship, everyday and every night! I highly recommend participating and watching as many of these as you can, they’re so much fun! We went to a movie under the stars (and ordered popcorn and wine right to our loungers using the OceanNow App) and also went to one of the nightly shows called Fantastic Journey. My mom and I also popped into a comedy show one night on our way home from dinner and couldn’t stop laughing! Everything from the stage sets, to the world class performers, and choreography was amazing! With my dancing background, I can totally appreciate all the hard work that goes into creating amazing performances!
Enjoy ALL The Food + Drinks: But seriously, eat. all. the. food! Trust me, it’s all SO DELICIOUS and available 24/7 with endless options! Everything we ate tasted super fresh, and we had the opportunity to try new foods we wouldn’t typically eat which was so fun! Honestly every meal was an “experience”. The staff makes everything so enjoyable and you can tell the chef handcrafted everything to be a memorable meal. There are many different restaurant options, everything from casual to fancy dining, cafes to buffets, and 5-course dinners, and they even create one-of-a-kind experiences if you’re celebrating something special! The first day of the cruise was my 30thbirthday, and Princess Cruises went above and beyond and delivered a huge chocolate cake to my dinner table with waiters singing and everything. I got to be one of the first people to taste the new birthday cakes Princess is trying out, and I approve!
Overall, the food and drinks were super impressive and I did splurge every day on a treat (living that vacation life), but it was worth it! Everything from the homemade croissants and do-it-yourself egg white omelet bar at breakfast to the guacamole and chips poolside, to the 5-course seafood and Italian dinners, I definitely ate my fair share of quality food on the cruise. It was so fun trying new foods too, like lobster and beet risotto (and I loved them both)!
Also, I have to note my favorites: we had breakfast delivered to our stateroom one morning and enjoyed croissants, eggs, and mimosas as we sailed across the ocean. It was breathtaking! Another favorite experience was our Chef’s Table which is a full evening designed for food enthusiasts! We had the opportunity to be welcomed by the executive chef of the ship into the inner sanctum of the ship’s galley to enjoy some tastes, conversation, and some drinks! This was then followed with a beautiful (and very delicious) multi-course menu specially crafted by the chef! It was such an intimate experience (you can have up to 10 people in your group) that was a highlight in our group!
