My current school I teach at is a 45 minute drive away from Santa Barbara. It’s a fairly easy (and very beautiful) drive with ocean, mountain, and vineyard views. In the past I often found myself thinking about what I was going to teach that day, or the errands I needed to run after the gym on my way home. That was, until the day I met my boyfriend. About two years ago he introduced me to the glorious world of podcasts, and from them on my love for them has grown.
I originally started listening to podcasts like The School of Greatness, The James Altucher Show, and The Tim Ferriss Show (who began the 4 hour work week, and the 4 hour body). All three of these podcasts are pretty similar in the sense that they all interview successful, business-minded, and motivational people who can influence your life in a positive way.
I took a little break from podcasts to listen to Audible (essentially books on tape), and am now back to podcasting and have some good ones to share with you! With a cup of coffee in my hand, and my podcast playing in my car, my 45 minute car ride to school and home flies by! Listen up to some of my current favorites:
- Up and Vanished: If you enjoyed Serial, you will LOVE this podcast! I’ve found this one to be easier to follow and for some reason way more intriguing and super addicting. It’s an investigative podcast that that explores the unsolved disappearance of a Georgia beauty queen and teacher. I also love that each episode is kept to about 30 minutes. Two of my favorite bloggers, Cupcakes and Cashmere, and Carrie Bradshaw Lied recommended My Favorite Murder as one of the podcasts they’ve been binging lately, so that will be up next!
- TED Radio Hour: I’m sure you have all heard of TED Talks, which are speakers who give short, powerful talks covering a range of topics. Well this podcast, digs into the archives of those talks, investigating ideas, inventions, and new ways to think and create. My favorites so far are How We Love, Slowing Down, Headspace, Simply Happy, and The Food We Eat. They’re all SO informative and I always step out of my car feeling smarter than when I sat down in my car!
- Being Boss: Sophia Amoruso interviews other successful females with mindset, habits, and lifestyle tips for creative entrepreneurs! I JUST started this today and so far am totally obsessed. I love hearing about other successful women, like the founders of Skimm, Drybar, and Outdoor Voices. which inspires me and my blog!
If you’re already a podcast lover like me, I hope you enjoy some of these! If not, I highly recommend giving it a try on your next commute or road trip! And please, if you have any podcasts recommendations, I’d absolutely love to hear them from you! 🙂
