The hustle and bustle (and splurging) of the holidays is officially over and you can read about how I stayed fit during this crazy time of the year here. Now that the New Year is in full swing, there’s a million people hitting the gym daily and trying to reach their fitness goals for 2017. If you are like everyone else out there, you probably start off January really strong- eating healthy and balanced meals, working out multiple times a week, and ultimately feeling pretty good about yourself. Unfortunately for some, this lifestyle will only stick for a few short weeks, and I’m here today to set you up for success to maintain your 2017 fitness goals for the entire year. Keep in mind, I’m not a personal trainer, but I have a passion and love for staying fit and leading a healthy lifestyle. So let’s get this party started:
- Do yourself a favor, and buy this planner: I received it as a gift from my brother for Christmas (thanks Ty!), and have been loving using it to keep myself on track. It’s seamless to use, helps me set goals to increase productivity, helps me open up about gratitude, tracks my months/weeks/days, and even holds myself accountable for my exercise of the day. This might sound silly, but wearing new workout gear (like these cute leggings, top, and comfy/affordable sneakers) always motivates me to stay healthy and fit no matter what!
- Set long-term goals but also break them down into attainable short-term goals: Because your goal is to make this a lifestyle change and habit, it’s important that you set the right kind of goals in order to be successful. For example, if your goal is to lose 20 lbs this year, break it down into 5 lb increments. Or if your goal is to workout 5-7 times per week, plan out your workouts one week at a time. Start with 2-3 workouts per week and increase your gym days as the weeks go on. This way you can celebrate your small victories and work towards your larger goal!
- Write down your goals somewhere visible: It’s important to be able to visualize your goals daily. Whether that be on the refrigerator, on the background of your phone, or on the bathroom mirror. Write them down and post them as a daily reminder to yourself. For example, my “no added sugar” goal is all over the place in my planner, specifically under the Daily Habit section.
- Create a healthy lifestyle for yourself, nobody else: It’s important to feel your best from the inside out. When you feel your best, you look your best! 🙂
What fitness goals have you set for yourself for 2017?! I’d love to hear in the comments below! I’d also LOVE to hear your feedback if you enjoy these fitness posts 🙂
