Living a balanced lifestyle is something that looks and feels different to everybody, yet I hope it’s something that everyone strives for! In addition to the obvious new workout gear (like this cute set from Shore Brand) to maintain motivation, there are many other ways to create a healthy and balanced lifestyle. In my experience, I aim to create balance in all aspects of my life which in turn keeps me happy and healthy…
- Fitness: I try to workout 5-7 days a week. Some weeks are busier than others, and although I feel guilty skipping a day, I remind myself that it’s perfectly ok to miss a workout here and there. It’s always a good idea to keep your workouts fresh and exciting by mixing it up with a yoga class or an outdoor hike!
- Health: I try to eat my healthiest Monday-Friday with occasional splurges (specifically my weakness, ice cream). My go-to breakfast Monday-Friday is oats, almond milk, almond butter, and a banana (it keeps me full for hours). I have a mid-morning snack of greek yogurt and berries. For lunch I’ll either have a salad, sandwich, or some type of leftovers. Dinner is usually fish/chicken with veggies, or my own creation of a mexican taco bowl. On the weekends I’m a bit more lenient when it comes to eating, but remember that life is all about “balance”. It’s ok if you have a giant cinnamon roll one day and the next day you drink a giant green health smoothie! I’m definitely guilty of that scenario weekly, but that’s what balance is all about, right?! 😉
- Emotional well-being: Focus on what hobby or little things in life make you happy, and create a habit out of it. “You time” is the most important thing you can give your body and mind to recharge! I used to meditate daily, and will admit, I need to get back in the habit of waking up to that daily. I love enjoying a cup of coffee first thing in the morning, it keeps me happy (and warm). I also love winding down at the end of the night by blogging (of course!), or with a book/journaling. These things make me happy so I try to carve time out of my day on a regular basis to enjoy them!
- Relationships: Set aside time weekly (and even daily) for family, for friends, and for your significant other. When you are physically present with those you care about, it’s important you respect them and are mentally present too. This means save your phone time for later!
- Work: I’m very strict about utilizing my time I’m at work (which is school) properly. When I’m at school, I’m in full on work mode. I like to keep work and home life separate which means I rarely bring anything home with me (which is hard for a teacher), but I know that I will be the most productive at school, rather than at home so I capitalize on that.
I’ve learned to try and do everything in my life in moderation! I’m sure you’ve heard that before, but it really is true! Everything in moderation means you will live a healthy and balanced lifestyle! What do you do to stay balanced daily and weekly!? I’d love to hear 🙂
