First of all, Happy September 1st! I can’t believe it…
When people find out I’m a 2nd grade teacher AND a full-time blogger I get many responses, however, the majority being, “WOW…you must be super busy!” Truth is I AM so busy and I always feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day however I love it! I dedicate my entire 16 hour M-F days to teaching little kiddos, sweating it out at the gym, and blogging before bed. Although it can be stressful, I wouldn’t want it any other way! 🙂 I’ve always been one on the go, transforming every waking minute into crossing something off my never ending to-do list. How do I do it? Well, I’m sharing 3 tips on maintaining an organized life and how I balance work and blogging:
- Buy a planner you love (it has to be cute and have a practical layout) and keep it up to date: I recently received my personalized Erin Condren Life Planner and it has been my lifeline! This planner has been coming with me EVERYWHERE lately. There’s specific boxes to write down your overall goals for the year, space to create your weekly grocery lists, weekly to-do lists, inspirational notes and quotes, and of course daily, monthly, and yearly calendars to write all your appointments! My planner has been keeping me more organized than I ever thought possible!
- Write to-do lists: I am a major pen and paper girl through and through so I write to-do lists daily. I start mine in the morning with everything I want to accomplish that day. That way, I’m relying on my hand dandy to-do list to remember everything I need to do and everywhere I need to go. Plus, I get major satisfaction crossing things off my to-do list once they’ve been completed! Anyone else!?
- Designate specific hours and days for specific activities: For example, I designate my weekends to coming up with blog content, shooting blog photos, and writing blog posts. I also designate teaching to at school only during the day, and blogging to at my desk only at night. That way I can keep the two separate and my mind knows when it’s time to buckle down for each specific task.
I’d love to hear how you balance working and another activity (like blogging) or how you maintain an organized lifestyle!
