TOTE: Here or here (less than $30)// POM POM MAKER: Amazon (only $6) // YARN: Here (8 colors for less than $8) or your local craft store!
YES it is still summer, YES it is still hot outside, and YES there are still many beach + pool days ahead of us, so for many reasons, I decided to make this adorable and extremely easy DIY pom pom tote for less than $45! You can see the original pom pom beach tote here or here, but you’ll save yourself over $70 just by making your own that essentially looks identical! I originally was inspired by the blogger Caitlin at Southern Curls and Pearls to create this tote, like she did. It’s too adorable to pass up, is very practical because these totes are sturdy + large, and only takes up part of an afternoon to create. Let’s get to it!
STEP 1^ Wrap your yarn around the pom pom maker, making sure it is tight and secure.
STEP 2^ Continue to wrap the yarn around both sides of the pom pom maker and secure it closed.
STEP 3^ Cut through the middle of the yarn on both sides of the pom pom maker.
STEP 4^ Tie a piece of yarn through the center where you just cut. Pull apart and your pom pom will form on its own.
STEP 5^ Continue to make as many pom poms as you desire. Leave the end of the pom poms long so you can connect all of them together at the end. I twisted white yarn pieces together and attached them all before tying to the straw tote.
VOILA! Now you have your super cute, super affordable, super practical, and super easy beach tote ready to go! 🙂
