I’m sure I’m not the only one, that when it comes to getting that “summer bikini body” there’s an incredible amount of motivation to reach your goal. But the second the leaves start falling, and the days get colder and shorter, we’d much rather snuggle in bed with a cup of coffee, then defrost to get to the car and then eventually make it to the gym. I’ve come up with a few tips, which will help motivate and encourage me to consistently workout this winter, and hopefully will inspire you too:
- Set a goal: Just like you set a goal for yourself in the summer, do the same in the winter. The cold months are no reason to get set back, and there should be a “winter body” goal. Write it down to hold yourself accountable!
- Stay warm: This may seem obvious, but just because you know you’ll be sweating and warmed up quickly, you still need to ensure you’re warm the second you start that workout. Same goes for after a workout. I always wear a jacket/long sleeve shirt/vest, and put it on immediately after a workout no matter how warm I am at that moment, because your body starts cooling off immediately.
- Gym class: This is just the right amount of motivation you need to perform at your highest potential. Even though the comfort of your own home seems like a better option than trekking out in the cold to make it to the gym, stepping into a lively, upbeat, and positive workout class is exactly what you need to get you pumped up and push you harder than you would yourself. Mix up the classes! I love going to HIT, body pump, spin, and hot yoga. Try something new!
- Workout buddy: Whether it’s your bestie, your boyfriend, or your mom, having supportive people around you will hold you accountable for working out. With an encouraging workout buddy around, you’ll find it easier to get and stay motivated to reach your goals.
I hope these tips have given you some inspiration on how to stay fit in the winter. If you have any other additional tips I’d love to hear them as well as your winter fitness goal! 🙂
