Living in Santa Barbara my whole life, I’m pretty much accustomed to the “June Gloom” we encounter every year. It seems that people either love it, or hate it. I, however, have learned to embrace it. Every morning, very early, the fog rolls in over the ocean, and sometimes is so thick it’s essentially sprinkling. Mid-afternoon the fog burns off, the sunshine is bright, and people are seen smiling from ear to ear. Why is it that the sunshine always brings out the best in people? Whatever the reason, I believe it is important to find a way to bring smiles and sunshine even on the foggiest of days. Putting on this extremely soft yellow sweatshirt with the perfect life mantra on it (Eat Well, Work Hard, Love Truly, Travel Often), immediately brought sunshine to the gloomy morning and quickly put a smile on my face. There’s just something majestic about a foggy morning, spent drinking coffee, in a cozy sweatshirt, taking a long beach walk, chatting with a good friend. I can’t help but to be grateful for the opportunity every day to wake up and enjoy the gift of living.
