Oh Santa Barbara…the beautiful, tranquil, seaside city that I’m fortunate enough to call home for the past 26 years. Once you’ve been, there’s no turning back. The American Riviera, so it’s called, thrives in its Mediterranean-like climate year round. From lush hillsides with memorable vistas, to the pristine shorelines, Santa Barbara has it all. Any visitor, of any age and size, will find an activity that peaks their interest. Read on to find out some of my favorite spots to see by the sea in SB…
Hendry’s Beach is a must-see for any visitor (and local) in Santa Barbara. All dogs and all people are welcome here, any time of the morning, day, or evening! Be sure to try Boathouse Brunch while you’re there. Once you secure yourself a patio table, you’ll have a few minutes on your hands. Enjoy a peaceful walk along the shore, taking in the salty air, with the breeze in your hair!
If you’re feeling up for a hike, I highly suggest the Saddlerock Hiking Trail Loop. It’s a moderate to strenuous hike in the Montecito Foothills that has a steep and steady climb to the top. If you’re up for a 3 mile rocky route, with unbeatable views at the top, go for it! I promise that once you’ve made it to the top of the mountain, you’ll forget about how sweaty you are, and the deep breaths it took you to get there, and it’ll all be worth it!
A quick walk out on to the picturesque Stearns Wharf will lead you to an upstairs, quaint yet trendy Deep Sea Tasting Room. There is no better place to sip delicious wines while chatting with friends and enjoying the 360 degree views that Santa Barbara has to offer! I guarantee you will feel like you are on a yacht sailing the Mediterranean. Cheers!
Location, location, location. Located in the heart of Downtown Santa Barbara, just steps from the main shopping hub, State Street, you will find yourself at the Canary Hotel. Venture up to the rooftop where you can experience top-notch views of the mountains, the city, and the beaches. What more could you ask for!?
